I didn't know that! Interesting. I know YKK is tried and true, but I also know they fail... so I'd be interested in the Raven ones! I love Sunbrella...
Maybe I can pick your brain.
Here's the situation... I'm redoing the zippers on my enclosure. (broken teeth and stitch failure). So far I am VERY proud of the ones I've done - they've held up well (Tenara thread, etc. #10 YKK). I've gotten the hang of sewing with Tenara (tension setting on bobbin, etc.)... So now I have another section to repair that requires something a little different.
I have a section of enclosure that is about 3/8" too narrow (too short) (it's a long brow above the windscreen) -- it's about 8' long and about 7" tall. What I need to do is add about 3/8" of material to the width of the zipper (so, it becomes 7-3/8" tall). I'll post a sloppy drawing after I post this reply.
And, no, it's not just a matter of setting my basting tape 50% of 3/8" on each side. There's just not enough meat... so I need to zigzag stitch a "filler" (if you will)...
If you have an idea for a good material, I'm all ears.
Thanks!
