Not sure about Mass but the liability section homeowners policy in NC covers the liability for shooting if justified. There is an intentional act exclusion but just below that is an exception for force used to prevent bodily harm. Check your policy. But this is only the civil side. My main concern would be legal fees etc. on the criminal side. But the CC policies I have seen usually contain both.
