We use both Verizon and Cingular at work and I have one of each. The Cingular tends to run faster but their 3G network is not as far along on the build out as Verizon's is.

The Cingular card, when on the 3G network will run at about 750-850 mbps. The Verizon card runs at about 500 mbps. Unless they are going to be uploading and downloading a lot of pics, (or spreadsheets) the difference shouldn't be too bothersome.

If they have either a Verizon or Cingular phone, they should look into a card from that carrier. Both companies have deals where you can add a second line with the card for about $45/mo. If you go stand alone, its more like $70.
