Our next door neighbor has a home on Prince Edward Island. He warned me that when you get to Boston (from North Alabama), you're just about halfway to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. We flew to Manchester, NH and still put 2000 miles driving to Sydney, NS and back.

We were really looking for Celtic music and roadside lobster shacks. We didn't find either, as the musicians live down in Ontario and don't show up until July. The Cabot Trail was pretty, but the entire region has been logged and is without a beautiful forest. We didn't care to pay $12.99 a six pack for the cheapest beer and their 15% sales taxes.

What we were really looking for we found on our return in Camden, Maine. Its harbor is full of beautiful mahogany boats and schooners, and it's just a beautiful town. Lobster shacks abound. And the homes of the tall sailing ships' captains have been made into magnificent bed and breakfasts. We will return one day to spend more time in maritime Maine.
