"the right school" is just not even a "thing" for 99% of companies.
i worked at one of the largest management consulting firms in the world and it was regularly named "most desired job out of school", "best place to start career", etc. and we never excluded candidates based on the school from which they graduated. while many firms do target specific campus for direct, on-campus recruiting it doesnt exclude candidates from other schools. in fact, in the past few years, there have been MANY articles written stating how kids graduating from large state universities have become more desirable new hires than grad from small "prestigious" colleges.
