I thought I'd let the "early risers" fight for space on the water opening day. I headed out of Deale with a crew at 11:30am. All my Deale contacts were reporting no catches, so I took the long run south to the Power Plant area looking for cleaner water and those "Choptank" fish I never get an opportunity to catch if I troll my northern haunts.

Either a lot of fishermen quit early, or they stayed home (better judgement). I had open water and was able to make acrobatic moves on my chart plotter trying to entice a strike.

With all the reports in mind, we gave it 3 solid hours before pulling lines and heading home. Nothing to get excited about. I saw less bait than I wanted, few birds (none diving), and no fish in the box

Some charters cancelled todays trips, but I'll wait fro better reports before venturing out again. I used two trips of fuel for one trip yesterday A 45 minute run down, and another 45 back added to our disappointment.

Fishing; not Catching
