Default Key West 1720 CC or Mako MAKO 171

I am thinking of purchasing one of these model of boats so I can fish off Huntington Beach , Horseshoe kelp area of so cal. I want a boat this size that I can tow it behind my 2003 ranger. Will I get beat up out there with this small of boat? There will be one or two other people with me

You will wish you had something bigger, especially if you are taking two friends. However, people do it in smaller boats.

Just pick your days and go early in the morning. If you just want to fish the kelp beads you wont have to worry about getting beat-up for very long.

I say go for it. Small boats equal smaller problems - so go ahead a get your feet wet and determine for yourself if you need a bigger boat. Try to find a boat that will hold it's value.

I ended up buying the boat, I can always bring it to Texas and go fishing for reds and specs with it. I am not going to get killed by spending $3500 on it. I wanted a boat that I could tow behind my ranger to California and Texas from New Mexico. If I need a larger boat I can bring my 19ft Pro-Line out with my Dodge 3500

Thanks for all your help Surfhunter.
