Matson needs competition, period! They're simply too big, too arrogant, too impersonal, and too expensive. They've had a virtual "strangle-hold" on the people (and businesses) of Hawaii since 1882 for the shipment of anything and everything from cars and boats, to fuel, lumber and groceries. And their stevedores (i.e., longshoremen) are some of the highest paid in the known world! So GO Pasha!
Over the last twenty-five years, we've shipped a total of three boats from the U.S. mainland to Hawaii (from Alaska, Seattle and California), and we had very little choice other than Matson in each instance. But we shipped another one (a 27' center console) from San Diego to Hawaii early last year using their new competitor (i.e.,Pasha-Hawaii), and the service and pricing were absolutely
excellent.
