Bboy:

here are some lessons learned from a few years of fishing that general area:

Westview marine is the preferred marina, the dock scene in eve is fun, fireplaces, drinks, mexican food, icecream..NICE
boat ramp and parking are run by village of tahsis, cheaper to park by week
two person show at ramp, no floats
Wind will kick up at about noon
Maquinna has decent rooms w exception of "jail", they also have good qty of freezer space which will cut your ice bill, buck a fish per day as I recall....
Town "car wash" is free, firehose opposite gas station, after log road, you will need it
take plenty of bait (Chovies) as they can get scarce. I dry salt them ahead of time
plan on 2.5 hours from C-River
I gas at Westview or Mission, min run to fishing is 16 mi each way, so gas will be a frequent visit...I pretty much gas each
some guys pull boat every day to gas on land, save about $.2 a L, that can add up..too much hassle to me.....I gas every day for safety, reserves, and the ability to be flexible
Charts and or decent electronics a must
fish the hi-way to avoid the crowds
"Buddy" boat essential, you are a LONG way from help.
Plan on a radar day or two in "fogust"
Zeballos is a fun day trip, Masons is a good place for dinner away, moor at Govt dock
stop at River Sportsman and Tyee marine in C-River, both great tackle shops, esp River
I cover kicker and main cowls and lower units w garbage bags and duct tape to keep log road dust at bay
carry spare racors
trailer "crash" box a must for this road: spare tire, fix-a-flat, bearings, etc..TOOLS !
......that's enuf to get started......
look at my pics on ifish, most of the salmo pics are from near there or there....

Well I guess we were there at the same time. 25' Davis "Tag Team".
We stayed at the RV park. I left my camper and boat parked there all summer & put the boat in the marina while I was there.
Sure is a beautiful spot. I agree on fishing the "highway", although it gets rough out there pretty much every afternoon.
Many of the regulars overnight just inside to save the time & fuel.
There are some really good anchorages.
One thing , if you "reserve" at the marina you pay for the time even if you leave early.
The launch ramp is at a very shallow slope, so you have to go farther in than I'm used to, right up to my tires and still have to power on & off.
Was told it was built for the sea planes to use.
I may fly back this summer & fish with a guide.
I will go back someday .
How do I get to your pictures?

I have been up there several times, I would add more days to my stay.
The Maquinna lodge is the best place to stay because they are very set up for all the fishing needs including all the bait and tackle you need.
The dock space is excellent with out all the hassle of to many people. At the other Marina you have the problem of no parking, its jamb up all the time.
Not to mention all the time trying to clean fish, gas the boat, park the boat at the other end of the cleaning area and then have to carry the fish back to the cleaning station. Maquinna has everything right next to the boat dock and is always easy to clean the fish and freeze them or refrigerate them right there. Maquinna has good parking, easy access to the hotel, and there marina, with out all the crowds at the other place. They will tell you where to fish and what to use for the best results, whether fishing for Salmon or other fish such as halibut, lingcod and assorted other bottom fish.
