Before I could light it I had to let it dry out first.

Not a fish, but my best catch in 05 was a satelite tag that came off a great white shark after 12 months at sea. The part above the water is about a big as a golf ball floating in the middle of the ocean, giving an electronic "beep" once a minute. Kind of like finding a sub but you can only use your sonar once every sixty seconds. Took about 45 minutes using an inward spiral search pattern- the same guys had recovered the tag from the MB Aquarium shark, but it took them all day to find it.

The scientist guys told me that this was the first time a tag had been recovered that showed a full year's travel of the shark- they seemed pretty excited.

Tom , was it still attached to the shark or does it release itself after a year.

Hey Chaps, thats a beauty. Caught a couple that size on Vancouver Island, but that was a few years back, so more to your merit.

This year, I only got to fish one afternoon inshore, and a scranny 5 lb snapper was my claim to fame. But I am off to Puerto Vallarta tomorrow in the seach of yfts, and will try to hold my moth right.

Fishing on a friends boat, so I am only taking 3 - 40 lb outfits to catch some 10 lb baits, as the captain has Int 80 blueprinted and ready, saying that my 80 lb outfits are for foolish boys.

So I'm packing my back brace and a lot of asperin in the hope he's right.

They can program them to release from the fish whenever they want. The part that floats up looks like a small microphone, but only the top half of the round part (about the size of a golf ball) and about a 4 inch arial floats above the water. It will send a rough location (within a few square miles) to the satelite, then beeps a radio tone once every sixty seconds.

We had an rdf that gave bearing only. I ran towards the signal at a good speed (about 20 kts. As soon as the signal went to one side or the other I would turn in that direction and reduce speed by half. Eventually after about 4 or 5 turns I was going about 2 kts and knew the tag I was searching for was in a box only a hundred feet or so on a side. Found it pretty fast, but it was so small we lost sight of it, so I threw a half empty water bottles at it as a marker float the next time we saw it. Pretty smooth for the first time doing it.

Okay here are a few to start with, no huge fish but just for starters.
First is a King Salmon out of Westport.

Second an ugly addition to the family, and I mean the Ling Cod. Out of LaPush.

And a couple of Halibut from Lapush.

A photo of my 60 pound King from Westport.

Beats our 55 lbr. from Sooke B.C. ... That is a beauty. Ours was quite a bit shorter and fatter than your photo looks.
