back to work after washing down the boat and putting her away for the season. Final trip saw the 4 of us seasoned anglers do pretty good on rock fish, one very nice 40# ling, good number of quality coho and a few smaller springs (no halibut

). Offshore we saw a small mola mola hang around the boat for a few minutes (first time for me seeing one of these in our waters). and then there was the humbolt squids ranging from 15 - 40 pounds that seemed to be everywhere on our last day. From top to bottom they stuck the trolled gear, metal jigs, scampies, and what ever came near them. PITA

. ended up keeping a few to try out. only my dad was happy to see them in the cooler. i didn't get a chance to give them a taste but my dad says they were fairly tender but salty. catching one or two was a novel affair but after moving many times to a different spot to resume salmon fishing and only encountering squid was frustrating. word is that they are everywhere on the WCVI now, hopefully they don;t damage our home stocks too badly.
overall, i give this season for me a 1.5 thumbs up
