5127 died in committee, but dont fall asleep. I think the members of CCA have proven, they will do what it takes to fight bad legislation and promote good legislation.
More fishermen need to change their attitudes about who is responsible for the future of these runs. How about donating your time and money, so that others, who get involved and have talents that you dont have, will be able to make a difference in each and every river. If that idea, makes you uncomfortable, then its exactly what you should do. You have to do more than not throw you sandshrimp containers in the river. Call one of the clubs, find out what you can do, to push their mission forward.
I have worked with people in the last two years, that help to raise money, (unbelievably simple), raise awareness of the issues by talking to groups, others who use some of their time, to develope a new program to help the fish, the habitat, law enforcement, hatchery production, or join in to finish the job on time, so that everyone can go home at a reasonable hour. There is so much opportunity for you in that organization, it will make your head spin. All you have to do is ask.
Never assume you cannot make a difference. Never assume, you will not succeed. Never assume, noone will join you, to make it happen. |
