Default Help Seattle Newbie...

I moved here (Seattle) about a year ago from the Midwest. I have a boat (dry-docked) in the midwest that has yet to make the move. Moving the family and everything else just kept us completely swamped for the year. Things are beginning to settle now and I am really itching to get my boat out here since this is a 'real' boating community. Since I am new I wanted to bounce a couple of questions of those with some Seattle experience....

1) Looking for a boat yard to park temporarily while I get surveyed and have some minor repair work done. Figure now is the time before I drop it back in the water. Any recommendations on local surveyors and boatyards? I will be shipping my boat directly to this boatyard so I will need facilities to remove from truck and block it.

2) Marina\moorage...I see a lot of options around here, not really looking for a yuppie marina. Just good service and family oriented. Since I am new to the area I will asking a lot of dumb questions, really don't want to feel that I am 'putting them out' (if you know what I mean).

3) Any other relevant information (online or otherwise) that would help a new seattle boater get acclimated?

My boat specs: 30' Cabin Cruiser with twin Mercruisers.

Thanks in advance for your help...

What area do you want the boat to be located in? By that I mean do you want to get off work and go for an evening cruise cloase to Seattle or do you want to drive an hour and a half and spend the weekend cruising in the islands? By the way, go to Bloodydecks.com Washington Forum to get in touch with more NWers. There are many choices for you depending what you want to do. Let me know if I can help.

This isn't much of a West Coast forum. You will probably have better luck with Boating ABC or TBM.

ship it to CSR. they have facilities to unload and store.

call Frank at the Commodore Way to schedule. they will need to plan for space. they will do glass work and other shops like Gallery Marine will do engine work. they will charge per day you are and not getting work done unless they dont have time to get to it. if you choose to rack store, port of edmonds usually has space this time of year, or if you want to be on the lake call seattle boat company, i know theyve got rack space.
