Default ALASKA HALIBUT/SALMON CHARTER

I'm looking for a charter that will accommodate 5 or 6 fishermen to do a combo Salmon/Halibut trip (probably 4 days of fishing with a day off in the middle-5 days total) in August/2009. We'll be flying into Anchorage and will probably rent a van or SUV for a drive down towards Seward. I understand a good time to do this type of trip is a week before or after the Silver Salmon Derby. Can anyone recommend a specific charter captain or advise if an all inclusive (lodging, meals and fishing) is the way to go? Thanks, Jim Serra Palm City Fl

There are a number of good charter operations in Seward. Cracker Jack Charters is a good one as is Saltwater Safari. www.saltwatersafari.com & www.crackerjackcharters.com. They both have web pages where you can check them out. I would come before the derby if you can. I personally prefer July and take that month off just to fish mainly for Silvers out of Seward, I do a little halibut fishing during that time also. The halibut start coming in May and they have alread got some over 100 #. (I'm not connectedwith any charter operation and fish off my own boat.)

Pastor Bob,
We would like to that little cat over on www.aluminumalloyboats.com

Also there are some AK. outfitters over there as they like to run Alloy up there.

Some of the regs up there are changing AS WE SPEAK in diff. areas so watch when and what your fishing for.

There is a fellow running a nice alloy Armstrong cat out of Seward, Alaska. His name is Neil Marlow (I bought a house from him) and I usually run across him when I'm in Seward, I'll ask him if he's going to charter again this year. He does pretty good putting people on the fish. We do have a lot metal boats up here - the single most popular boat in Alaskais a Hewes Craft 26 footer with hard cabin (gotta have a hard cabin in Alaska).
