Default Will CA ban 2 stokes on inland Lakes?

I know CA will not let you buy a new carbureted 2 stoke, but do you think they will ever ban them from lakes?

I am repowering a river boat and am considering driving to AZ to have a carbureted Yamaha bolted on it. The savings over a HPDI is significant, but I don't want to get stuck with a boat I can't use.

They already have a ban on two stroke motors in a few lakes . . . Tahoe, Donner, etc.

Thanks for the information!

Do you expect these regultion will affect the CO river any time soon? Seems like the river would be harder to regulate since it is jointly owned by CA/AZ (atleast down my way).

I just can't justify putting over 10K worth of engine on a 3K boat.

Look for the CARB rating. Lakes, like donner, tahoe, etc. will still allow 2 strokes, but it must have a 3 star or more rating.

I bought a Evenrude ETEC 150 in July 2008 in Calif. From their cd they claim
that the EPA uses them on Lake Tahoe
