Default visiting Santa Barbara Dec 24-28

I will be in Santa Barbara visiting family for the holidays. I live in south florida and was looking to see what type of fishing is done in this area this time of year. Are there charters or any kind souls going out that need an extra hand and some gas and beer money. Just curious more or less what is fished here. Were I live we are catching nice Sails, and Wahoo this time of year and having never fished the Pacific was wondering what it hitting this time of year. thanks.

I am down near LA and there are rockfish and bonito and cudas near shore.
For the Santa Barbara area look at allcoast.com and bloodydecks.com for recent reports. Good luck. It is a beautiful area.

If you are a diver, Lobster at the Channel Islands is open. Lots of day boats run from local harbors.

Welcome to Santa Barbara. I'd be happy to take you out but am cooking and familying those days. As you probably know bring a WARM jacket if you're going out in the channel. Forecasts are for beautiful weather.
Many charters launch from the harbor. This is a good intro to species and seasons: http://www.wavewalker.com

There are also many part and full day party boats. I've had good rock and ling cod success this time of year. Whale watching/island excursions are awesome on the Condor Express, a 50' jet catamaran. PM me if you want more SB info!
