Re: puerto penasco (rocky Point) Where would you be towing it from and how many days would you be fishing? Also what type of boat would you be bringing down? The reason I ask is that it can be windy A LOT and that causes 3-6 foot swells at 4 -5 second intervals. Not real comfortable to fish or boat in. Bouyweather is about the best forecasting tool and it is hit and miss at best.
There are plenty of places to launch so I would not worry about that. Fishing is good if you have coordinates for the various reefs. During the late fall, winter it seems that the 51 mile reef is popular from anything from yellow tail, halibut, red snapper and very large black sea bass. However the reef is 50 miles from the harbor. Watching the tides can be important as well as they can be extreme. There are a few charters that go that far. PM me if you want some potential links to more info for the area as there are a lot of variables to consider. |
