Abalone opener solo Left my house solo as my dive buddies were sick, out ot town and/or strattled with family obligations. Left Santa Cruz at 3am drove 184 miles to Salt Point area and it was still dark so I waited about 45 minutes and got in at my secret spot "MacWilly Cove"
Kicked out about 50 yards to a washrock, vis was not great maybe 6'. Went down about 15' vis was much better on the bottom maybe 10'12'and popped the only one I saw. Figured the washrock was too obvious and picked on over the years so I kicked out to just a random no structure area and went down closer to 20' and saw a lot of nice abs, popped two and I was done.
3 abs all 8" and fat. Out of the water and heading home at 7:57 am.
Had family over and it was the best I've had. This is the most labor intensive food on the planet!
