They started showing up in 2008. I am not sure if it was the entire year or late model only. The 09's on have the 6 speed, in both the 5.3 and 6.0.

GM has a habit of putting really crap ratio rear ends in the trucks. We just bought a 2011 denali left over in Janaury but also test drove another yukon with the 5.3 and 3.08:1 rear. holy crap was this thing a dog, i gouged the throttle and it felt like a V6. Even with the 6 speed it makes it worse cause it jumps around shifting with the double overdrives. Drove the denali with the 6.2 and 3.42 gears and it was such a drastic difference. my wife drives it and average 15-16mpg (hand checked) with mixed more city driving. The gear ratio makes a huge difference, we test drove a 1500 sierra with the 5.3 and 3.73 gears, this felt pretty good. There is nothing worse then towing with just or not enough power.

Amen- Can't disagree with anything you commented on. My wife and I have tossed around the idea of trading in the Tahoe for a CC pickup and then getting her a new Tahoe/Yukon when they are updated. I looked at the new F150 Platinum and will say they are a huge leap forward from the Tahoe, and my wife is already comfortable driving a full size truck platform. Our Tahoe has the rear bucket seats so we wouldnt really lose much when the crappy and impractical removable rear seats are considered.

So does my 07 LTZ 5.3 have 3:42 or 3.08 gears? How can I tell?

Id be interested in the EFI live tune for it as well as I am on the hwy a lot for work but also tow a lot.

I dont feel that my truck is sluggish as it flat runs circles round my 5.7 99 Tahoe but I dont tow more than above 70 because its mainly back and forth to OBX.

That said, I will seriously be looking at the Denali's with the 6.2 when I decide to upgrade my boat.
