Default Jacking Aluminum Trailer

I am replacing the torsion axles on my aluminum trailer. Will you damage the aluminum I beam if it is used as a jacking point with a floor jack. I was planning to jack the trailer up and blocking it with 6X6 blocks, 3 places along each side of the trailer.

Put a block of wood on top of the jack to help distribute the force and keep from chewing up the trailer and you'll be just fine. My boat and trailer setup weighs 12,000 pounds, so I usually use two 12 ton bottle jacks. They're not expensive and they are pretty stable. I prefer to use two because I put one in front of the axles and one behind and then jack it up evenly.

I agree with Kern.

Oh, I think the 6x6 is a little more than is needed, but hey, if that's all you have then that's what you'll be using, right. A 2x6 is all you need.

I am assuming the boat is on the trailer here. And what "kerno" says is probably fine however IMHO I would jack it up under the axles and then block up the trailer fore and aft of the springs / axles assembly. I would not jack one side of the entire boat and trailer package up using a single point of contact on the aluminum I-beam.
I would recommend you off load the boat somewhere and make the repairs on an empty trailer. In which case you could then jack it up however you want. And have easy access to to the springs etc.
