Default Interesting Tundra videos

Interesting concept it would be really interesting to see this type of testing be truely unbiased and compare all the half tons.

YouTube - Tundra Deconstructed: Episode I - The Tear Down

YouTube - Tundra Deconstructed: Episode 2 - Towing: Texas-sized

YouTube - Tundra Deconstructed: Episode 3 - Heart of the Beast

Wow! Pretty cool. But you have to think they're a little biased since Tundras are put together in Texas.

It is definetly biased, it would be cool if somehow this type of real world testing could be done in a unbiased way.

So according to the engineer in the video, towing over 10k lbs in a goose neck trailer with a truck thats supposed to be like 3/4 ton is overloaded? Gee my 3/4 ton GM is rated for a whole lot more than that with a gooseneck. I guess they really arent so comparable. Maybe toyota should explain that their 10klb towing capac ity is with a gooseneck not a straight pull.

Interesting videos, in concept its cool, in reality its useless propaganda. As others have said, it would be interesting to see what the results would be if this was done by an independent firm.

BTW I was very interested in a Tundra as a tow vehicle and started researching the forums and what I found wasnt close to whats shows in the second video. I wonder if the guys in the Toyota forums, who have blown the rear transaxle 3 or 4 times towing heavy loads, saw this yet...

Thanks for sharing.

It's just a commerical, they didn't say how many other free trucks they gave to other ranches, that didn't hold up. You can bet Toyota did all the maintainance for free. You know that ranch owner told the foreman to hype the truck, so he could get another one free. Hell I might drive one if it was free. But I'd rather have my Dodge, 102,000 miles and just broken in.

no they are rated for straight pull 10K with the proper options.

What he was saying is that the truck the way they used it was way over weight. The cows alone maxed out the truck, the trailer only put the weight even more over the top. I would bet that most of the time that the truck was pulling that much weight was off-road. Looked like most of the miles put on them was off-road and not at highway speeds. (maybe that is how the brakes lasted so long, not much stop and go or slow down from fast speeds???)

I am sure there was bias, and editing, and scripts, but it dosen't change the fact that the Tundra is a tuff truck.

I just posted this picture in another thread, but why not again?

I really like the Tundra and I had a 2002 years ago. The problem was it didn't tow my 25 Outrage very well. The springs bottomed out too easily, but that was a 2002. I recently went and looked at the 2010 Tundra crew cab 4x4 and the springs/suspension looked the same, thin and flimsy....I'm keeping my F250 Superduty it pulls my boat effortlessly and no squat....On another note, I'm finding it harder to buy Japanese even though the Tundra is assembled here that money goes back to Japan. Japanese quality is not what it use to be.

Doorkicker, That is a nice looking Tundra, thank you for your service!

A friend of mine decided to move his furniture from NJ to Fla in a 24' enclosed trailer with his new Tundra.
Well after i helped him load the trailer he decided to hook it up, the bed bent back so bad i advised him to lighten the load, he thought it would be ok, the trailer and load was overweight, probably total weight 12,000 lbs + or-.
He made it to the Fla. border then broke the right rear spring, he blocked it up and made it to his new home.
That towing video was done with a fifth wheel trailer, which puts weight throughout the truck, Toyota said in that video that the Tundra should not exceed 10,000lbs towing, if they are talking a regular hitch, thats a stretch because seeing that frame bend like his did, i was not impressed.

I call BS on your remark

First, go back and re-read my post, I said the BED BENT BACK !
Where did i say BENT FRAME

If you go back and watch the video's you provided, you will hear a Toyota Engineer even say the frame is designed to flex or bend.

Default Fine print

Notice the check engine light and A/T oil temp light on in the very beginning of the video.... These "Texas" farmers must be hauling fethers. I've replace 6 of these Transmissions with under 100k on them. Its a great truck, don't get me wrong, but compared to American trucks.....well there is not comparison.

The gap on my friends truck was larger then in your video, i thought that the frame moved too much, and that video proves it
