GlockD,
Just arrived yesterday from the 1350mi tow to the Keys. The F150 is a better tow platform than my Expedition was, must be the longer wheelbase. Very comfortable tow. I bought a Lariat, 4 door, 2wd, leather, moonroof, sync, 5.4L - 6 spd auto, tow package with 3.73 gears limited slip, yada, yada. Rated to tow 11,300lbs. Pretty good for a F150. It actually would tow the boat in top gear at 70mph/2000rpm IF NO headwind or incline. Push tow/haul button and drive away. Trans temp gage did not move. So far I like it.
Happy trucking.

Reread the Aquasport literature. The 225 Osprey has an approx dry weight of 3900 pounds and the 225 Explorer has an approx dry weight of 4100 pounds.

Key point here is that the weights are listed as being approximate. Not absolute.

Add any options that may have been added to the boat during production. What about your batteries, battery switches, hard/soft top, bolsters, anchor, anchor line, bow rail, windshield wiper, trim tabls, oil tank and oil, dive ladder, swim platform, extra seating, porti potti, fresh water system, etc? Now throw in a plus 15% difference from an approximate weight to an absolute weight and you have your answer.

Sounds like a nice truck and a decent deal that you got. I'd want just about the exact same, except maybe 4WD, although that's another $3k usually.

Well, no sense in thinking about it too much now. My tow vehicle is still in nice shape and I have another car to pay off first!

Your correct about the word move instead of tow since it combines the weight of tow vehicle and trailer, but according to both state and fed dot web sites they add the weight of the tow vehicle, trailer, and tounge weight. It doesnt sound right to me either but when I looked it up many years ago thats what it said and it said the same thing recently when I rechecked it. They may have been refering to weighing the trailer seperately from the tow vehicle with their portable scales in which case you would have to put a scale under each wheel and the tounge jack, but it didnt specifically state that. I always just take the whole rig to the scale and see what I got.
