Default Any news on the Tundra/Sequoia Diesel?

I have read rumors of a 4.5 liter diesel engine that was going to be offered in the Sequoia and Tundra for 2010. Anyone have any information on the particulars or has this project died?

I think the project may have died. I did a quick search on google and didn't see anything newer than 2008. I also checked around a bit when the 4runner came out last month and saw only hopeful consumers and nothing concrete. Too bad.

Due to the economy they cancelled the diesel. But Ford is coming out with their new one in 2011.

Don't hold your breath. We are building prototype 2011 frames and there are no diesel ones in the line up.

I was just in New Zealand and the majority of Toyota pick ups and larger SUVs all had diesels in them. Over there they werent called Sequios and Tundras, but they looked similar ot our US versions and most had diesels in them.

given what VW and other car manufacturers are doing with smaller diesels, it certainly seems like an interesting option in tundra or sequia.

Today I had my 100k service on my 5.7L Tundra. They want to sell be a new one BUTTTTTT nothing new on horizon. Nothing different in 2010 or looking forward. I will keep truckin in this one until the "new" version comes out. 400 ponies might get me to jump!!

I'm looking at getting one (5.7L Tundra) myself...either a 08 or 09. How do you all like them? Owned a Sequoia and loved it. Either going to get the Toyota or Ford.

I have an 07 with the 5.7L. Never made even a hiccup. 47,000 miles. At least 4,000 miles of that time is with a trailer on it. It has towed my boat to Key West from Delaware, and back, an never even complained once. I absolutely love it. I want a larger boat, and with the 10,300 towing capacity, I will be limited. I pray that Toyota will produce a diesel one day. Overall, for now, it is the perfect truck for me.
