Default heavy duty guide posts

Looking for a pair of guide posts for my loadmaster 29'-31' Ibeam trailer. Most guide post kits are for smaller trailers. This a bunk type float-on trailer with a 9' wide beam. Suggestions on which supplier carries these? Trailer has a 4 1/4" thick beam.

To state the obvious..... Have you try Loadmaster?

My Loadmaster guide posts are pretty sturdy, but the boat is 23 feet. I'm sure they can suit your needs for a larger vessel.

I just had the same problem trying to find "heavy (or heavier) duty" guide posts for my trailer. Many times I launch and recover solo so these are a must have item to keep the boat from drifting off of the sweet spot while I walk back up to the truck and / or am haulng out.

I checked with my trailer manufacturer (Load Rite) and purchased from them ($120.00!!)..However, they were still very flimsy and the PVC was not tall enough.

My advice for you would be to take copious measurements and then have a machine shop make (bend) some for you. You can get square bend stainless U-bolts and hardware on the cheap at Fastenal, PVC at any hardware store, and all you need then are the L bend galvanized brackets.

I ended up using ONLY the L bend brackets from the Load Rite kit which kind of ticked me off as in the end I spent a lot more on a project you could probably do yourself for a lot less than $120.

Good Luck!

One last thought...make the vertical portion of the L bracket that the PVC will slide over a bit taller than necesary to provide more of a backbone for the PVC piping to prevent excess flex.

I have the same trailer with the same problem. I am bending some 2.25" outside diameter .125" wall pipe and bolting it to the trailer. The part that bolts to the trailer will be left long...like a 30" for added stability. Then I will add light brackets and pvc.

I put a set on my trailer and after a few years and a few "hits" one broke. I measured the thickness of the metal, then found thicker ones at http://www.championtrailers.com/

They lasted me until I sold the boat and trailer.
