There is an outfit in Colorado that will take a donor 3/4 burb and convert it to a Duramax for about 80 grand!! Nice set up but not that nice.

If you could find a lower mileage excursion with the 7.3 in her that would be a great ride. Lots of aftermarket "go fast" stuff available and the 7.3 is just about bomb proof as compared to the other ford diesels of late.

GM sold the rights to the 8.1 Big Block last year (08). 07 was the last year they used the motor in the Pick-ups. Sorry no more BB for GM

My vote for you is the 1500 - better milage and more comfort, It will tow, I have 2008 LTZ Sub. and tow 7,900lb boat trailer set up and it handles it great. Had a 2500 LT Sub 2005 and it was very nice but the ride and milage was truck like and the tow was not any better than the new 1500 with the same set up. If you have a heavy boat to tow more than the 1500 Sub can handle skip the 2500 Sub go to the four door 3/4 ton pick up with the diesel motor you'll be glad you did. Good Luck.
