Default Preventing corrosion at light connection

I'm replacing the corroded led lights on my boat trailer. The lights failed, because of corrosion where the plug plugs into the light. I noticed this product, Truck-Lite Corrosion Preventitive Lubricant NYK-77. Is this stuff worth buying or will something else work just as well (vaseline, wd40)?

Thanks

I smeared http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?GroupID=108 on my connections after constantly having an issue with one ground corroding out... works like a champ. I also grease my trailer bearings with it

Get yourself a can of dielectric grease. Its specifically for lubricating and corrosion prevention of electrical connections. I use it on all my electronics connections, as well as my trailer light pigtail. I even put it on the base of the bulbs on my trailer lights.

Dielectric grease works wonders, just dont let it get washed out. Its best for sealed connections. I use liquid electrical tape on my trailer light connections. It dries fast and provides a water-tight seal.

I agree. You can get it in a tube at an auto parts store.

I put this stuff on all the water tight electrical connections on my engine 2-3 times a season. The plug wires, injectors, fuses, bascially if it comes apart and has an electrical connection, it gets lubed. Once the green corrosion starts, it cant be stopped.

Permatex sells dielectric grease and tune-up dielectric grease (for spark plugs) for $3 for a big tube of the stuff. Works fine. Got it at auto-zone.
