Default aluninum bunk brackets

has anyone used these aluminum brackets?
my galvanized steel brackets have become rusty and are flaking .
seems like aluminum is the way to go.

I would be concerned that the aluminum would be strong enough. You might have to go significantly thicker to get the same strength.

it's 1/4 inch thick and the inside joint is filled in at a 45 degree angle.
are there any engineers out there who would know how strong it may be?

That looks like what Hi-Tech uses on their bunk trailers. Or at least on the one I just bought.

the answer from hi-tech trailer was to go ahead and use them.
they are used on all of their trailers both large and small ,so he said to use the aluminum

I had to reduce the bunk height in a trailer, cutting down the supplied galv. ones from LoadRite. Surprised how good they look after a few years of saltwater use. Acid cleaned them and sprayed cold galv compound, 2 coats on the cut edge.

I've got aluminum on my 2004 Sea Pro SV2100 and don't have any problems.
