Default Looking for a new tow vehicle

Most likely a truck but who knows. I want 4X4. I have always been a Chevy guy and very pleased with their quality but I am wondering how quality is now after all government has messed with all the union workers? I need at least a 5.3L, 4 wheel drive. Let me know what yall think I tow 6K of boat mostly less than 20 miles... I have always owned 1/2 ton pick ups and it will be used to commute 30 miles each way to work also. Thanks in advance..

Dunno about the pickups, my Tahoe only has 111k so I got another year or so before I start shopping. But, after driving a couple Denali's and a Saturn rental with the 6 speed trans, I am sold. Figured I was going to replace my Tahoe with a 07, now I'm waiting for the newer Tahoe & Yukons to come on the market that have the 6 speed and 5.3. What a difference that trans makes... Check one out.

Thanks,
I saw a Chevy 4 wheel drive (last night) with the 6 speed tranny and that definitely interests me... Thxs,, I still think I am leaning GM, maybe Dodge then Ford.... still kicking tires...

Sounds like you're only interested in domestics....

The Toyota Tundra has a new motor this yr. A 4.6; a destroked version of the 5.7. Puts out 310 hp and with a 6 speed will get you 20 mpg. The Chevys are getting that and they are competing with them. The motor is only available in the '10 models...It's on my short list of trucks to replace my '04 Tundra.

Some folks here are saying the Tundra is a lightweight and not capable. Seems like 5800# is plenty heavy enough.

Nowadays, I think all the major players are making good trucks. One of our members has complained about a Dodge with the Hemi and too high a low end gear; it keeps searching and downshifting. If towing, that gear needs to be at least 3.8 and lower..his was a 3.5 or so..

I'll grab the popcorn and sit back.....Good luck!

I am, at heart, a GMC guy. I recently struggled between the GMC Duramax and the Toyota Tundra. I didn't get the Duramax due to the complaints about the regeneration filter and the whole thing with the goverment deal. I opted for the Toyota and I'm glad I did. I get better fuel economy than I did with my '05 F150 and the truck just continues to please. I still like the inside of the GM's better though.
