Default trailer bunks???

I am going to give my boat trailer an overhaul. It is a Highlander, and has four keel rollers down the middle of it now, with a 2 x4 laying flat on each side for the hull to sit on. the boat that sits on it is a 20' proline center console. I am wanting to change the bunks from one 2x4 laying flat, to (2) 2x6 or 2x8's standing on their end, with a pvc guide on the outside of the last keel roller. I dont have a clue of which brackets to get. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. michael

Any pics? Hard to get an idea of what you're dealing with. You can poke around for parts here: http://www.trailerpartsdepot.com/

I used 4x6 PT lumber, 12' long laying flat and covered with the 2x6 plastic skins avail. at eastern marine. Usually they are mounted with little L pieces bolted to a sliding bracket. This allows the bunk to pivot or adjust to get the best angle for baring on your boats bottom. Better not to use lumber on ends (too tall) as there are several advantages to having the boat ride lower on the trailer. If your trailer is aluminum, make sure the PT wood does not touch the aluminum as the chemicals may react with it. I don't see any reaction with the galvanized supports. Pick the best Knot free lumber you can dig out of an HD pallet.

Cypress lumber is a very good enduring choice for boat bunks if you can find it.

Scroll down to vertical bunk brackets.
