Default setting up new trailer

Looking for advice on setting up my new trailer. I have a sailfish 2360 and just upgraded the trailer to an 8500 lb trailer. I had a 6k and it was maxed out. The new trailer is only 6" bigger. I have no assurance the old trailer was rigged right, so I am hesitant to just copy it. The place I bought it from has the roller mounted a foot further toward the tongue then my old one. Is there a rule for how far you want the boat from the front or back of the bunks? I can figure the distance pretty good, but I am struggling to see just how far forward it should be. I have no way of weighing the tongue though.

I always see that people insist on having the transom supported on the bunks, but I don't see roller trailers supporting the transom. What's the difference?

You can weigh your rig at any truckstop for less than $10. Drive onto the scale...get the wheels of the trailer on one panel...unhook the trailer so your tongue jack is on the adjacent panel. Drive the tow vehicle off the scale and ask the scale master to weigh you. Soon as he says you are weighed, hook the boat back up and drive off the scale. Go inside the truck stop and the scale master will hand you a ticket showing the weight on each panel.

Most CAT scales allow a reweigh for $2. Go to the ramp...adjust it front or back, then go back and get weighed again.
