Random Quote: But Honey, we really needed that new rod..........
on my ram, my OE michelins lasted almost 35k miles. They were a nightmare on wet roads at about 30k miles. I would never buy them again
All I can say to that is huh. Been close to a million miles on 3 trucks in the last 18 yrs. Went thru goodyear and goodrich before I got to Michelns. Been running Michelins on them since about '94. Never had a set go less than 60k miles. Most go 70-80k even on my 2500 towing 10k lbs thousnads and thousands of miles. Had exactly one flat tire... hit a piece of pipe laying in the road and it punched a hole in my sidewall big enough to stick my fist thru.
Possible factory installing some cheap michelins? The factory tires that came on my 2500 went 28,000 miles. don't remember what brand.

my oe firestone tires from my last truck went 48k miles. You could be right about the factory tires over what you get in a shop, but why spend that much extra money on something that performed well below par when there are just as good if not better quality tires out there for half the price
I just replaced the tires on my diesel truck and went back with the same tires Pirelli Scorpion ATR e rated. Put 50,000 on the last set and they are great on the ramp and towing....Mark

just sayin that the michelins i've run are the best wearing, best traction tires i have run accross yet. that's why i keep buying them. probably on my 10th set by now.
My experience with 3 different sets of Michelns, (mine on my Ram, a co-worker on an F250 and another co-worker on a Tundra) not a single set lasted more than 40,000 miles. My Yokahamas easily and consistently last me 65,000+

That is crap.
Which idiot told you that CO2 only makes up 0.039% of the atmosphere?
I bought the Michelins from a tire shop that I buy all my tires from for the past 5 years, he recommended them as well for longevity, but it just didn't happen. I drive with a heavy foot, but most of my miles are highway where that doesn't really matter. You guys running the Nittos, are any of your trucks diesels? Seems like everyone I have talked to with Nittos on a diesel truck has horrible tread wear...I'm tired of replacing tires already had 4 different sets in 100k miles and can't seem to find the right one!
I am with Back-In-Black on this one. I always run Michelin tires and put the LTX AT/2 tires on last year. Tow a 9,000lb with regularity. Have put 45K miles on this set of tires and still have half tread life left. These tires have been great in the rain and at the ramps, as well as quiet on the highway.
Joey, I do know one thing that may be contributing to your tire wear. These trucks are posi trac in the rear and when you go around a corner, the inside tire will almost always break loose if you're standing on the gas. Wears the shit out of the rear tires. I've learned to slow down when taking a right or left from a stop sign. Makes a big difference. Also I know that towing heavy loads (10k or more) wears the crap out of the rear tires also.
Nitto terra graplers with 39k so far and some tread left. 08 F350 with 6" lift and pull 11.5k worth of boat quite often...and not just down the road to the ramp.
It's been raining here almost everyday. Have tried multiple times to break the AT/2's loose on the wet roads. I actually succeeded once and it hooked right back up almost immediately! Also fished in Venice last weekend. Something I very rarely do. It's one of 2 ramps I use that give my 2WD truck trouble when pulling the boat out. This time, absolutely no problem at all. Never even slipped. I am VERY impressed with the AT/2's over the M/S tires I have run till now.
I had the Duelers and they were probably the best riding tire of the 3 sets I've tried. The Geolanders weren't bad but the wear wasn't quite as good(seemed a little softer). The Geolanders were 'D' rated.
Had a set of Michelin LTX at2's put on a few months ago and they seem to ride pretty good -- Tread is a little bit more aggressive than the others. Time will tell on how they last.
