I used to run it in my diesel trucks twice a year to help clean them out. I also ran them in my last boat with a 200FI Suzuki 2 stroke, it made a noticable difference in the motor after burning through a tank of gas mixed with seafoam. Motor ran alot smoother afterwards.

I have been using startron in my boat becuase of the e10 gas. For those of you using seafoam do you know if you can you mix it with startron or should you just use one or the other?

Well, they have not and they don't...

That's because they already do!

Of course, our gasolines have had very effective detergents for several decades. And, because detergent additives help maintain an engine's emission performance, the EPA has required a minimum dosage in all gasolines since 1995. So, while all gasolines now contain detergents, all our gasolines contain additional quantities to better guarantee fuel system cleanliness.

http://www.exxon.com/USA-English/GFM...soline_FAQ.asp

But it costs money and eats into profits. Oil companies add the minimum detergents or as in the case of Exxon just over the minimum required by the EPA so they can toot their horn. Do you really think they could add the decarb cleaners that help to breakdown the carbon desposits and still keep already skyrocketing gas prices competitive? Adding the minimum keeps costs down and those record profits rolling in.

I guess Exxon is pulling one over on the EPA with their "witches brew."

OH wait, I forgot about Techron and RingFree made by Chevron and I think there are a few others. Does the fact that they are made by an oil company give them any credibility? So much for that theory...

BTW, IMO using Sea Foam when burning e-10 fuel is a TERRIBLE idea.

Default Seafoam and Diesel engines

Here is a link to the Seafoam site and their info on Diesel engines. I've used it to fill the filter (as described) in my DuraMax. I had a major drop in fuel mileage and was grasping at straws. Either the new filter or the Seafoam fixed the problem. That said, I don't use it regularly in the tank.

Not my truck which is Diesel, which I use a cetane booster and carry a qt of 911 for diesels. But in my old cars and for my Optis it's seems to work well for rough idle, stumbling off the line and in my optis if they start hard of kill while docking.
In an old 396 that was stumbling and hard starting I poured a half pint while the engine was running and it smoked a lot but after running it out the stumbling and hard starting were gone. As I don't drive the old cars every week or sometimes for a month (just like my boat) it seems to have saved me some carb rebuild time and kept my Optis running (but who knows for how long. Guess I'll recommend it

SeaFoam works like a champ. I run it through my wife's Jeep by sucking it in through a vacuum line each time I do a tune-up. I do it before replacing the plugs. It's sputters, coughs and smokes, but run a hell of a lot better after the treatment. The Jeep has the 4.0 inline 6 with 240K on the clock, and it runs like a dream. I also used it to clear out an old outboard I had from time to time. All I can say is the stuff flat out works. I've been using it in my lawn mower, blower, and weed trimmer for the past several years as well just before winterizing them. The stuff works.

Remember, Seafoam is NOT a fuel stabilizer. It contains alcohol.
