Guy's I have an 08 ford f350 with a 8" lift 37.5" tires, was thinking of going to 12", One of the most important topics are what has to be done to not have a death wobble, as in these guy's always say " we have to do this or", Forget about dealers call a 4x4 shop, they ALL know the death wobble. Call someone local or Jeese from Farmboy fabricators, they won't have to TRY to figure it out. Good luck
And for you Dodge guys go to, www.cumminsforum.com , If it goes on a Dodge Truck , it's on that forum.

Trackbar, Trackbar, Trackbar!!!!! It holds the front axle in line with the frame and you can't see the play in it from a shop hoist. You need to set the vehicle on the ground and have someone rock the steering wheel and look at the ends of the trackbar usually it's on the drivers side where they go bad.
Bingo! I have a Cherokee that I gave my son and it used to get the Death Wobble after hitting a bump or a bridge gap. Scarey stuff! The trackbars either wear out (if stock) or are not changed if lifted thus offsetting the appropriate ride angle.

You might want to try some of the Jeep forums as well or just Google Death Wobble. Most of the posts will point back to a recently lifted vehicle but there are quite a few on the stock issues.

Totally stock 06' Power Wagon with 40k. Tire pressure fanatic. Rotate tires religiously. Also check everything several times a month on the shop lift. Original tires though. I've done some reading last night and this morning, seems lots of people have had the dealer replace parts, still no fix. Others have had luck. Going today to put some new sneakers on it. BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2's, stock size LT285/70R17.
The dealer I am taking it to gets about 50k in parts sales from me every year, so I imagine they will take care of the recall without any questions.
So the dealer says my truck does not need the H46 recall. They looked at the steering damper mounting, and said it does not qualify for the H46 recall. So I either wait for the next recall to come out or fix it myself. Leaning toward the fix it myself. Or I could wait and have my steering parts snap off and kill me.

I swear I'd correct the prob before movin' up to bigger tires..didja replace the track-bar yet?...
My wife's Nissan van did that to us onna long trip once years back..turned out to be a bad strut on front right..
I have not heard of that problem in quite some time, thought it went out with power steering. I had a 1976 Chevy service van with straight 6, 3 on the tree, and all the power steering you could manage from your own arms. It was so bad I cringed going down certain bumpy roads. Seems like it was the idler arm that kept wearing out. It would be fine for a year til it wore again.

That recall is not intended to address the "Death Wobble." There were some trucks that had a different style mounting bracket installed that can break. More so in northern climates were salt is used, corroding the bracket.
I've ordered the BD Steering Stabilizer for my truck, even though after six years I've experienced no front-end problems.
Ludicrous, I laugh at those tires because some guys that would run them never leave the pavement.
In my experience, I haven't seen enough off-road opportunities in Florida to warrant running such an aggressive tire. Maybe you drive on the beach alot, I dunno.
I had three trackbars put in my '05 Dodge Cummins 2500 in less than 36,000 miles. Don't know about the '06's, but the '05's were famous for this issue.

Guys,
I do this work everyday. and I own one. The only way to get rid of caster shake if you do not have any worn front end parts is to adjust caster angle. The best alignments on those trucks are done with a tape measure not a machine. Im sure alot of you also have a right hand pull with larger ties or a lift that no one can seam to make go away. To adjust your caster angle look at your lower control arms at the axle...... role those cams to where the bolts are at around 4-5 o'clock on the drivers side, and 7-8 o'clock on the passenger when looking at them from the side of the truck, you will also notice much tighter handleing too. Take a freind and a tape measure and toe the truck in 1/4" and adjust your steering wheel after that at the pitman/short tierod if needed. For those of you witht the right hand "camber" generated pull, Cross your cams..... put the drivers cam at 8 o'clock and the passenger the same when looking at them from the side of the truck..... "yes they are crossed!!!" then adjust the toe the same 1/4" in and set your wheel. and you should be good to go. Steering dampeners just band-aid the problem, it will still try to do it, you now just have a little help. I ran 37x14.50's for a year with no dampener, not even factory, I have duals now just for the look! The recalls on track bars and tie-rods is just for a strength issue that dodge dealt with that was changed on '08s and was recalled and fixed on previous models. Give my suggestions a shot, Im sure you will be pleased. Also, balljoints are funnny on these things, I have seen trucks with 20k have all 4 out and then some with 100k still good.... bizarre. Either way, worn out components will do this too, but it looked like this wasn't a worn part issue, so my suggestion should work.
Check tire pressure, too...if you're running the dealer suggested 30 PSI, air it up, within 10% of the sidewall cold pressure max. If you're gonna go for those bigger mudder tires, be sure and get a subwoofer to match.
