Default Trailer Wiring Harness

Looking to re-wire the trailer lights.

Is there any difference in brands or just get any of them and expect to re-wire every few years?

I look at them as disposables--last about 2 years here in salt water. I've got LED type right now and I'm curious to see how long before water permeates the circuit boards and kills them---6 months so far.

Othere wise cheap is good in my book for this item

Do yourself a favor and do not use on of those cheap wiring harnesses to re-wire your trailer. The wire and insulation are cheap and will fail again in a couple of years.

Buy some high quality 16 or 18 gauge tinned wire and use that for the re-wire. You can also buy a junction box and a 5 or 7 pin pigtail to connect from the tow vehicle to the junction box. While this route is a bit more expensive and time consuming to install, it will 1) give you bright, reliable lights, 2) it will last for a long time.

These lights (model 701), waterproof and seal all connections and you are good for a long time.

Ancor makes some very nice wire for trailers:

Of course it's expensive.
I would recommend running a separate ground to each of your lights rather than making your ground connections at the trailer frame. That way all of your connections that get submerged can be completely waterproof, and will last much longer.
