I am wondering if anyone knows the Hull Truth on what class of California Drivers License I need to tow a boat trailer that has a 14000 gvwr in California. DMV says I need a Class A CDL. Is this right?
I already have the required DOT Wide Load Permit.

I know in the State of Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina as long as you are not commercial and this is your recreational boat and trailer you do not have to do anything with your license on these States. I believe that the area you are indicating starts at the 26,001LBS with the combination of truck and trailer with total weight that you are in need of a Class A Commercial License.
