Smile Trailer Brake Failure - Need Advice!

Hello everyone! We tow a 23 foot Grady White Gulfstream on a Continental 2 axle trailer with an F250 Superduty diesel. Last trip out, we noticed we didn't have any stopping power by the trailer brakes. The system is not electric but the simple surge type. Being clueless where to start repairs, is this something we can try to diagnose and fix ourselves? If not, could anyone recommend the type of repair shop that we could take it to? We live in Central Florida and fish out of the Ponce Inlet. Here's another idiotic question - can the boat remain on the trailer for brake repairs? Thanks a million for any advice you can provide!

Any obvious wet spots on the lines? Is the reservoir full of fluid? Are your wheels heating up when you drive? (pad separation) A boat/trailer dealer can help you out. If you're not that mechanically inclined, leave this to the pro's.

Check for fluid in the resevior near the coupler on the trailer.. if it is not full, fill with DOT brake fluid.. If its more than that take to any trailer repair shop (phone book)

Yes, the boat can remain on the trailer for repairs.

You don't say how old the trailer is. It may be still under warranty by the actuator/brake manufacturer. If you can find fluid around the actuator (trailer tongue) or on the tire rims (both sides) you need to go to a brake shop.
