I just bought a 1984 nissan 720 with the 2.4L engine. When i just went to start it, it starts up, then falls to about 1000rpm, and then the rpms flutter between 800 and 300, and then it dies. Do you think its just dirty carbs or something more serious? It also has a dirty air filter which i need to replace, maybe adjust the idle? Dont want to really invest anything. Thanks

sticking float or maybe a fuel pump going south check the pressure and volume

alright thanks, ill check that out.
I went out and had another look, i havnt even insured it yet its just sitting in my driveway, but the guy dropped it off and the gas tank must be bone dry IF the fuel meter is working, and guage is below empty and its parked upwards on a hill, so it might not even be getting gas atall?
