I caught some of their TV ads and happened to be driving past a dealer on Sunday. Stopped to look at the Ram 1500, they had crew cabs and quad cabs.
Pretty impressed with the ride and interior overall. I have a Durango with he Hemi now, and I really like the way the engine is put together, huge improvements over their earlier engines.
Anyone own one of the new trucks? Was surprisingly quiet and pretty comfortable inside. With the March incentives they had going on, you could get away in a decent quad cab hemi for $24-25kk. I was trying to price out a tow vehicle - I think if you were able to find or order one, you could spec out a stripped down model for around $22k with the big engine.
Idiot dealer couldn't search the other lot inventory on a sunday afternoon, and now it's tuesday with no callback - now I remember why I hate car dealers. Normally I wouldn't consider buying new, but with the incentives and lifetime warranty (if they stay in business, haha) it might not be a bad choice for a tow vehicle I'd own a long time.
I used to own a 2006 ram with the hemi. I just test drove a 2009 and its incredible. Acceleration is awesome and 50 more hp @ 390 compared to 2008 and older at 340. Gas milage is good towing and and when not in tow with the mds i was getting an over 20 average on the highway. More payload this year with the new leaf springs. I wish i didnt buy my f-150 so fast.

Haven't ridden in one or driven one but they look like a BIG improvement over their ancestors. If you want som side by side comparisons, as far as towing ride, hauling and that sorta thing go to fordvehicles.com and look at the test that they did with the 2009s.
The new '09 Ram is a sweet looking truck. More horsepower with better fuel economy. This Hemi uses a mechanicaly actuated variable camshaft. It's pretty cool. I bought a new '07 Ram 2500 CTD that I plan on keeping forever, but the new Ram is making it hard to stick with my plan.
Well looks like the incentives may be off quite a bit from yesterday, but the dodge site doesn't seem very well updated - brainiac dealer should have called me back, guess they don't need to sell trucks.
one thing i forgot to mention is that axle ratio's also channged this year. They dont offer a 373 anymore. They offer a 392 as an option while the standard on most lots will be a 355. I dont know how well the 355 will do with more Hp compared to previous years with less hp and the 373. Maybe a wash??

Say, "Fiat Ram" and see if that helps you stick to your plan easier...
Hardly. Fiat will have a 35% stake in the company. It wasn't called a Mercedes Ram when Daimler had a 51% stake. All the merger will do is create a greater sales network for both companies and help Chrysler's CAFE standard with Fiat's little turd box car. Nice, well informed post. Let me guess. You hate American car companies?

You miss the point. Chrysler has 30 days to pull off a deal with Fiat and just like the Daimler-Chrysler alliance it will NOT be a merger of equals. Fiat will start with a minority stake and eventually Cerebus will find it is out of options and firesale more (almost certainly with Fiat getting first option.)
Wrong - I harbor no ill will to any American company - why should I? I happen to think GM is making some of it's best cars in decades right now (I hope it isn't too little too late) and Ford has shown more acumen in fixing their messes than the rest of Detroit combined. Chrysler on the other hand has been a piss poor mess for a LONG time and I see little hope for change. BTW, my daily driver is an '08 F250 diesel.

I am on my 3rd Ram in 7 1/2 years. 180,000 miles on a 01, 160,000 miles on an 05 and now 37,000 miles on an 08 Megacab. I haven't had many serious issued considering the miles. The 01 went through 2 transmissiona and a rear end. the earlier models ALL had weak trannies. the 05 had a front wheel bearing replaced and the rear end rebuilt @ 150,000 miles. I have a 26' Scout & the '05 pulled it fine. The new Megacab pulls my 32 Edgewater ok up the ramp and for the few miles to the launch. The 09's have even more power. I would be leary about the new rear suspension. At least for the fist year. I bought the Megacab because for some stupid reason you can't get the new Ram crewcab with a 6.5' bed.
