Default Tire size change

The used rig I purchased came with 13" wheels and tires on tandem axels with two spare tire's (One dead) I'm looking at some upgrades and really leaning towards going to 15" wheels and tires, besides center to center and fender clearance what else should I take into consideration?

It is a 21' CapeHorn with 250 Merc, 130 Gallon gas cap plus gear, est weights Hull 2000, Merc 500, fuel 780, ice tackle ect 600 trailer 1200= 5080# towing weight

Thanks,
John

I think you pretty much got it covered. What type axles and how heavy are they. Going up two wheel sizes is going to add considerable "un-sprung" weight.

Ya can’t go from 13’ to 15’ without changing out the axles, springs and hubs, you cannot Just change wheel and tire size!

I don't believe that you can get 15" tires on that trailer without a lot of modification. I would be looking at 185X80X13 or 14" tires.

If you have 5 lugs on a 4 1/2 inch bolt circle then you can use 13 14 or 15 inch wheels interchangably, provided the axles are far enough apart. You would probably have to move the fenders or maybe replace them. If you get lucky and your trailer is available with 13, 14 or 15 inch wheels, they may use 15 inch fenders for all of them just to simplify inventory.
13, 14 and 15 inch wheels all use the same size brakes.
