Default Need help quick!!! New F250

I pulled the trigger yesterday and bought a new leftover 08 F250. The dealer had to get it from another dealer and drive it back. He promised it to me the same day (sat). He called and said the truck had arrived, but I could not pick it up until monday because he claims some sort of pre-delivery inspection had to be done by the service dept. on monday. I told him okay but I was going to come see it now. When I arrived a the dealership the truck was parked in the back of the darkened service area and he did not offer to bring it out into the daylight and let me drive it. Has anyone heard of such a thing? I am suspecting there is a problem with the truck either mechanical or aesthetic that they did not want me to discover. What should I be looking for when I pick it up tomorrow? Am I paranoid or is the dealer full of B.S?

whoa, take a deep breath, don't let this ruin your night. Most dealerships don't "want" their customers to see any vehicles until they've been detailed. I'm not saying they aren't hiding something, I'm just saying maybe there was burger king wrappers and cigerette buts in the ashtray that they didn't want you to see, and they didn't want you going skitzo..

All good points. I think I will interrogate the service tech to see what was done.

I'm with Mike, they probally just wanna detail it before you see it. That way any litle scratches suffered in transit, they can get out before you see them. No biggie

Default I hope it was paranoia!!

Well I got the truck. Everyone told me it was a routine inspection and detailing. I think you guys were right, it appears that the truck was left out on the other dealers lot for a long time and it was filthy. My dealer cleaned it up okay, but you can see it had been weathering for a while. There are some hard water spots etc. All in all I am happy with it. I'll post some pics soon. Thanks for keeping my temper and paranoia in check!

Boy that's not much of a detailing dept. if you can see some weathering signs. I'd either get them to clean it up properly, include new carpet floor mats, add a full tank of gas (if you already didn't get one) or maybe have them install a set of factory mud flaps at no charge. Maybe tinted windows would be of interest to you? But damn straight I'd be getting them to make things right by you.

Gas or diesel 4x4 what kind of deal did you get. I am looking right now a 08 diesel with 7056 miles for $32000.00

My dealer, who I've given a couple hundred thousand dollars to, would clean the truck again, I always get a full tank of diesel, but all of the other requests would be met with a firm "Go Pound Salt" from him. After he gets beat up on price, he's not giving me new carpets, mats nor mud guards...

Hey I had to toss you out a few options to maul over. But in saying that Mike, if you have paid out several hundred thousand bucks their way I would think they would be willing to polish your knob for that type of business. ......there's another reason why one should never leave the house without a clean pair of undies on.

The dealer agreed to send it back to the detail shop and have them buff and wax it. There are some hard water stains on it like it was hosed off and not dried multiple times. No biggie. Kevin...Mine is a 4x4 crew cab lariat with a few extra options. MSRP $51,800. I paid $37,000. The used truck market is really strong right now, I have a friend that is a wholesaler that can get me anything I want from the dealer auction. I went the last two weeks and was shocked at how much the late model low mileage trucks were bringing. Thats why I went with new. Between the huge rebares ($8,000 on mine) and the low interest rates it was a no brainer.

I bought a white 08 F250 last Friday. Sounds like you got a better deal though. My sticker was 52800, paid 41000 with taxes, tags, etc. I had an 06 before and actually paid 5k less for the 08 than the 06.

Delete the DPF, get a Diablo Sport programer, and and ETG. Then you'll be dialed in better

They sure are sweet.
