Covering vehicles that live outdoors is a problem. Unless it is perfectly clean when you cover it, the cover will collect dirt on the inside and begin to abrade the paint. The only time I use car covers is on clean vehicles, stored indoors.

The first time it rains on a dusty cover, what do you have? Buy it a shelter instead.

Thanks for your replies.......

LR-Sportsman----Billy I'm looking at that site you suggested, Empire covers and have had contact with them by email live chats.....I'm going to be sending them a picture of the truck.......They want to know if they need to allow any extra room to accommodate the Tonneau and the Big Boss Running Boards......before I order.

I'm looking at their "Premier FS Ext Cab Truck Cover (9).................for $99.99.......Blocks 99.8% of Sun Rays and has 5 year warranty.......

Kerno---I wish I could build a shelter for it, but where I park my boats and trucks, is on the side of my house which is a secondary asphalt driveway which runs parallel with the property line and the house. Building restrictions prohibite any sheltered structure within 25' of property line as a"setback".....Plus Hurricane requirements, etc, etc.......and the cost is up there.......And then convince my Wife that I need to do what ??? where??? yea right, not happening !!!!

So I was excited about buying the cover listed above until I read your post, now not so excited....Abrade the paint ???
Wow don't want that....but where everything is parked, I think I will be ok ???

The Above Premier Dupont Tyvek Cover Features:

99.8% solar efficiency, keeping your vehicle cool and clean
Excellent water resistance
Small fibers (< 3 microns) keep dust, dirt and pollutants out
Full elasticized hems for a secure semi-custom fit
Gromets on the cover to secure the cover
Storage pouch included
Completely recyclable material
White Color
Five year limited warranty

All for $99.99 seemed right to me.......I've seen prices much much higher for similiar quality.

Big R

It's a truck.

It doesn't need to be covered.

Unless it's covered in mud.

Dude, that's pretty useless info......my old 1990 Ford F150 4 x 4 work it hard truck will never be covered......But this 2003 Ford Dually is a mint and I plan to keep it that way.

Both of my boats are covered with covers, and it's nice to know after removing cover everything is just as clean as it was when I last used it, washed and stored away with cover till next time. The cover's are so beneficial against Sun's UV Rays, Rain, Dust, etc..

Dually's main purpose is towing boat, so it get's limited use and such is used for pleasure.......It would be nice to remove it's cover and have that big beast as clean as last time I used her as well.

Unless "Booker" you want to come by and offer your cleaning services.......I didn't think so......Once you clean it, you'll have a new appreciation to what I'm talking about.

Big R

In my experience you don't want to cover a vehicle unless it is clean, and indoors or under cover already. Wash the truck, and keep it waxed with quality products and you want be dissapointed. Or, get a cover, it's your truck, but you may also look into a local canvas shop that does boat covers, etc.

Put a roof over it, you will get tired of the cover much sooner than you think.

If the truck hangs out of the garage, why not just extend the garage? I'm no architect but I know I could build an overhang off a flat wall long enough to cover part of a pickup.
