I have had all I can stand with the SHI%%Y drum brakes on this trailer. I flush them for 30 minutes a axle after each use and they are still giving me a hard time. What are my best options for switching to a disc system? Is the swap difficult? Thanks in advance.

I changed out my bronze discs on a Boatmaster trailer to the Kodiac SS discs. They have been great, no problems in two years. I can recommend them highly.
Like my Kodiaks' a lot--2nd trailer with them. Had a trailer with Tie Down brakes---every Tie Down component on that rig rusted immediately--clearly not meant for salt water, even with every-use washdown.
Have you thought about electric/hydraulic brake system? A bit of $, but really great!!

Agree completely! If you are redoing your brake system and need a new actuator, then I would highly recommend the elec over hyd system since you just get a regular coupler instead of a new actuator. My brother put elec over hyd on and we will never go back to owning a surge system again. The difference is amazing.
Yes it is not cheap, but well worth it in our opinion.
I have a load master with electric over hydrolic disc brakes . I ordered mine kodiaks with stainles calipers . mounting hardware but cadium discs , I dont like the idea of stainless discs I replaced my pads every year weather they need it or not with raybestos pads . kodiak does make hot rod pads for that set up
many miles over many mountian passes at 75+ mph 7800lbs of boat no troubles for past 2.5 years Just say no to surge ckunlky crap if you can !!!!! good luck kodiak disc and electric over hyd is the shizzzzzzzzz !!!!

Kieth is spot on about the EOH. I put the Kodiaks and a BrakeRite EOH actuator on my tandem trailer in the summer of "07 after going through 2 sets of TieDowns in 3 years. I just pulled the wheels and repacked the bearings last month and everything looked good.
I can actually expect to stop now when a traffic light goes yellow.
I have the Kodiac SS discs, they are great. However, why don't they make the hub wheel stud out of stainless steel? You can get the nuts in stainless.
It is always the fatal flaw with all these manufactures, they just leave one detail unresolved and that leads to issues down the line. The brake pads are another example, why are all the metal parts not stainless steel?
Trailer stuff is the same issue, you get the stainless package, then the guide pipes, must be a sub contractor, they throw those on the trailer, of course they are not stainless nuts and bolts and you now have rusty parts on a pristeen rig, just gets me aggravated, sorry to vent.

Look at rolls-axle. Aluminum axles. Aluminum winch stand. Aluminum suspension, guaranteed for life. Stainless bolts of course. There is not a single u-bolt on the trailer. Only Galv parts are is the coupler, winch, and perhaps those wheel studs.
