Default Trailer question

I'm thinking that the surge actuator on my trailer is leaking brake fluid. I just picked my boat up from the shop and after unhooking it from my truck, I noticed a puddle of brake fluid under the trailer tongue. My question is would this be something fairly simple to fix or is it something that i should just let the shop handle. A minor repair or replace the whole tongue section? Below are some pics. You can clearly see the brake fluid leaking. I'm guessing a seal is starting to leak

I found fluid on my trailer tongue after towing and did nothing. Next time I towed all was ok. Maybe just too much fluid. Mine has only been used a few times.

May just be a lose fitting. Bluewaterpirate has a video on how to bleed brakes solo if you need it.

If you need/want to replace it, they are only about $100. Mine looked like yours and I ended up replacing it. The downside was I needed a "flare nut" wrench to get the fitting off and it cost a few bucks and took a few trips the the store to get the right one.

Clean it all up, tow the trailer a few miles (using the brakes as often as possible), then look for the leak. A loose fitting is the most likely source. You can tighten it and check again.

Don't fill the brake cylinder to the top. Fluid should be about 3/8" from the top unless the instructions say otherwise.

Thx guys, ordered a new coupler with actuator today. Prices have evidently gone up on them. They're averaging $180-$209 for a model 70 7000# capacity. I'll change it out next week when I get it from UPS. Thx for the replies

Yeah, jump on the Tie Down hater bandwagon.

There's nothing wrong with Tie Down actuators, and from my experience, nothing wrong with their axles, brakes, or other trailer hardware.

Chill man, it was another sarcastic comment. I have a Tieown.
