Default Boca Lake

Are there enough members in the Palm Beach and north Broward county areas to get a group together at Boca Lake one weekend?

Just curious if there'd be interest.

We spend many weekend days out there, but I usually have no one to raft up with. It'd be nice to know more people to raft up with on weekends.

Yeah I might come down from west palm. It just depends on the weekend.

Ton of THT'ers around the lake. Myself included. I can't commit to a date, my kids schedule and other BS has wiped out so much boating. But we did stay on the Bert overnight twice in the lake in November, so anything's possible.

As an aside, we don't raft up much..

Sounds good. Let's see if we can get some additional interest and then pick a date.

Do you not raft up much because you don't like doing so, or because you don't have other boats to do it with?

Would you be interested in a THT raft up in the lake if we can drum up some interest? Schedule permitting, of course.

I would also think we'd need to set some basic ground rules/ expectations so that everyone can be on the same page.

For example, no extremely loud music. That always ruins the vibe in my opinion.

We go on occasion... have met many THT'ers there... I'm interested - but it would have to be after the Holiday Season... and the usually caveats -- my kids activities, etc. Sunday is best...

We spent just about every Sunday there for the last two years. That being said just pick a date and we'll come out.

Good to hear!

Yes, I'd plan on giving people at least a few weeks' notice.

Also, I realize that I probably picked the wrong time of year for this, but maybe we can get lucky with a warm Sunday.

Sounds good!

If that's the case, we've probably seen each other numerous times haha.

I've actually been out there the past three Sundays in a row.

If you don't mind me asking, how come you come all the way down to Boca Lake if you live in PBG? (That's what it says under your name)

So we've got 6 interested parties so far.

I would imagine we'll need a bit more than that since, inevitably, some will not be able to make whatever date we end up picking.

You should post this in the "Florida - Georgia" forum too.

We typically just bump into people in the lake we know while walking around, and everyone already has thier boat set at that point. That's the main reason.

We do some raft ups with a couple of groups once or twice a year, but those are planned well in advance.

Lastly, our new boat drafts about a foot more than the old Tiara did. That's put a damper on rafting also. We need at least waist deep water to float, wheras before we could get away with mid thigh.

Fair enough.

And actually, that would probably be fine as well (having a central meeting place in the middle with a raft up of a few boats and then having others just anchor as the please and swim/walk over to mingle). As long as the weather/water isn't too cold.

Good idea.

I'll do that today or tomorrow.

Alright, checked with the Admiral, and we're going to plan on doing this on Sunday the 18th.

I also have the same thread going on over in the Florida-Georgia forum and there are several people interesting in coming there as well.

I'll probably be out there at about 10am because of tide issues I have to deal with (fixed bridge, 10' high boat). Maybe a hair later if I need to pick people up on the way.

As we get closer we'll figure out how we'll spot one another, take a roll call, etc.

Please mark your calendars!

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hey everyone-- Sunday is coming right up.

It looks as though we may have some sun from around 10 to 2, which would be nice.

I'll wait until Friday to do a roll call of who is planning on attending.

I'll also see if I can cobble together a big flag or something so you can easily pick me out of the crowd.

Cheers,

Jeff
