Exclamation POSTPONED! - IBSP (NJ) Tices Shoal - NEW DATE: 7/17/2010 Coordinates, Time, Name List

******** NEW DATE (RAIN DATE IN EFFECT!! JULY 17, 2010!!!!! ********

I'll be there at 10:00AM -- which is early for some, but if you want a good spot it works out well. There is no formal start time or anything like that... the purpose of all this is just to meet other folks that enjoy the same things.

Rain/Weather date: July 17, 2010 (following week), same time.

Decimal Coordinates:
N 39.83376
W 074.09250
-
N39 50.026
W 074 09250

(That conversion was done by my GPS and is a little off when I put it into a GPS converter on the internet... if anyone can help me tighten that up, let me know. You should have no problem finding it.)

When you go to that location, you'll see a wooden "deck" on the shore. When you face the deck, you're going to go slightly North of it (to the left)... that area is still very nice and sandy shallow enough to walk to the "deck" and then you can take that walk-way across to the ocean.

Pete, I'll show up. It'll give you a chance to see a really sharp SH 24. Guess it should be late at least late June to be sure the weather is good. Maybe set up a primary date and a bad weather date for the following weekend. Never anchored up at TS but have seen all the boats from a distance. Jack

Great! This might actually turn out to be something! Naturally, you'll have to leave your boat at home -- we already have one 24' Sea Hunt...

Agreed, we should wait for the weather to be warm enough to enjoy swimming, etc. I also think earlier in the day to secure a good spot. I like just slightly North of the walk-way... I can get coordinates, etc. off the GPS and post as we get closer. Earlier in the day it is easy to see a "group" of boats. I'd rather anchor solo but we can do the "floating armada" look where people bumper to each other if so desired.

Anchoring there is a breeze. Never had a problem, just look at the direction everyone else is facing and the rest is pretty common sense.

Very cool. Nothing like having something different to look forward to during the off-season.

Let's see who else stumbles in. I think I'll throw a post up on the main board...

Thats a nice area
Coming in from fishhing from the Barnegat its always looks crowded but it still has plenty of room, might be a good idea to have a time well before noon though, biggest boat parking lot in New Jersey

For years and years, I would look at all those boats and say, "Nah -- that's ain't for me" -- I just was never one to "tie up with the herd" -- well... when we had our son, we started going there (this past summer) -- he was 9 months old -- we get there early. Around 10am. We swim on the bayside, go over to the ocean side, swim more... he love riding on my shoulders... we wade back to the boat (I've actually had to SWIM him in) -- and have lunch. usually by around 1:00 we're out of there... it starts to get too crazy. (Although I have met up with friends and ended up staying until way beyond that) With something like this, if we can get enough people -- *WE* would be the "craziness".

We'll see how it goes...

I haven't been there in years and pass by it every time I go fishing. Could be a good time with a group of people. For me it just depends on what day of the week it is and if the owner of the 220 Seapro i run and take care of is down and needs to me to drive him around.

I'll post coordinates when it gets closer to the time. I'll also post up a map with the area, etc. I'll try to make it as easy as possible to be there. No stress, no "have to be there" crap -- just fun time... show up whenever, leave whenever... Seems there is lots of interest...

That would be fun to get a good group out there. Tices has become increasingly more popular. I'll definately be in.

Default 21 foot Sea Pro

I am interested in a 2002 21 foot Sea Pro Center Console, with a 150 2 stroke Yamaha. Does anyone have any knowledge if this is a decent boat?
Thanks

Sounds like it could be a good time. I usually do Tices a couple times a season but didn't stop by this year. Like to check out your and Jacks SH 24's and put a face with the names.

Hey, Ralph. It will be easy to tell us apart. I'll be the extremely good looking face with the really cool 24.
Hope you can make it. I would like to check out your 22. I may have seen you one day this summer off the Governor's Mansion. Is it the new darker blue color? We can stand around all day and tell one another how great our boats are.

Looks like there is a lot of interest! I've got a few ideas on how to select a date that will work for the most number of people... as we get closer to the season, we'll set it firmer. (Allowing for the weather and everything.)

I know its far away and all and the weather unknown, but I'd like to suggest a possible date to be considered... Sunday, July 18. I think a THT get together at Tices would be a pretty cool way to kick off my 21st birthday

It's a white hull 2004 but still looks new. My boat was one of the first Sea Hunts in jersey waters back then.

Think Spring!

Whoa. Just saw this thread. I'm absolutely, DEFINITELY, in. I'll be there with my girlfriend and hopefully a couple more people. My slip is at Causeway Marina on Rt. 72 so any time is great for me.

As someone else mentioned, it's awesome to have my first thing to look forward to for next summer!

Hey, Dan. I slip at Causeway also. I'm on B dock #62...pale blue Sea Hunt 24. We can run up to Tice's together. Maybe you can bring Captain Stubing?
