Guys I finally am getting a break and going on a cruise for the week....grand cayman and ocho rios are the stops out of Miami...I will follow up when I return and post some pictures!!
Heres a quick picture of me and my girlfriend with Lobster Dave in Jamaica...best lobster I've ever had...if anyone travels there please ask me for details on where to find him, you wont regret it!!
Tell me more about lobster dave's. My finace and myself are going to Ocho Rios in June and I am really interested in going there. I've tried looking the place up on the Internet, but there isn't much info out there. i think lobster is out of season in June, but I still wanna go by the place.
He is the MAN! It is right nextdoor to Margaritaville..You can goto margaritaville walk down to the beach and make a left up the stream about 50 feet and you will enter his "restaurant".
Or we took a taxi and they dropped us on the street and you walk down a dirt road with some shacks and makeshift shops....a little seedy but its safe. He cooked the best lobster I've ever eaten. Tell him you found him from the internet, or print out my picture, hell remember me. He has no real website just a cruise review that did a piece on him a few years ago and hes built up his business through that review and word of mouth on the internet. Probably negotiate price beforehand I waited till after and it may have been a lil higher than what I've heard...$25 each for me and my girlfriend, the tray was filled with lobsters and a bowl of rice. Beers were like 5 bucks...check out this picture.....That was the best day of my trip...Climbing dunns river falls in the morning, going snorkeling at Dolphin Cove after that....Lobster Daves to eat, and Margaritaville for cocktails in the pool....Cant get any better!!!
From Lobster Daves, you can see the cruise ships only a few hundred yards away.
Wow, that stuff looks awesome. We are going to Ocho Rios in June for our honeymoon and staying at an all-inclusive resort. But I read about Dave's in Chile Pepper magazine and it sounded like it was right up my alley. I'm not one to stay on a resort anyway. I need a little more adventure and local culture than that!! Thanks again for the pic. He might not have lobster in June, but I bet whatever else he has at the time will be good! I'll be sure to print off this page and take it down there with me. I might even take the magazine article. He'd probably get a kick out of it he he has never seen it.
Yeah my guess is he has never seen that magazine article...He is a very nice guy, in Ocho Rios they are poor and count on tourists so they will approach you and pressure you alot compared to other islands but its perfectly safe. I dont smoke like bob Marley anymore but you will be approached about that alot Plenty of guys want to take you to the hilltop to show you the plantations, haha...Lobster Daves and Margaritaville nextdoor you have to check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You were right! Dave's was, by far, the highlight of our trip. The resort didn't have any lobster, but Dave sure did. He made us 2 plates. I don't know how he fixed the first plate, but it was covered in garlic and butter. The second plate was fried lobster. It was some of the best lobster I have ever had. He gave us a really fair price too. Everyone on the resort was jealous. I think we were the only ones at the resort to get lobster. I also gave him a copy of the magazine and he was really glad to get it. He hadn't seen it before and he passed it around to everyone in there. I think it helped us get a good price on the lobster!
