Can you please send some prices and reccomendations for a spool of braid. I have a 50W that i would like to spool with 100-130lb braid and then topshot with mono. I will problably use about 150 yds of topshot. I don't know how much braid i'll need? Thanks
i am not real sure. never used braid before. always used straight mono. trying to get at least one reel set up for big tuna with lots of line capacity? can you give me pricing on both? also, what do you reccomend
I would go with JerryBrown 130#. 600yds costs $77.99 and 1200yds costs $154.99. We can definately get the whole 600 on there and use some backing and then top shot it....you would have some leftover with 1200yds, probably holds around a good 800yds....
For reference, I have a Penn 50VSW that I got spooled with 700yds of 130lb JB and it has a 100yd topshot of 80lb mono, Momoi Hi Catch. It still has room on it though. It would be able to hold 150yds of 80lb mono with no problem.
I spooled it with only 700yds of JB so it will be able to hold a 100yd topshot of 100lb mono or a 50yd topshot of 130lb mono...depending on what line class I wanted to use the reel for.
Sorry it has taken so long to get back. I still need to get some spectra, just trying to figure everything out still. If I go with the Jerry Brown 130 (600 yds)what # test mono can I top shot it with? I was thinking somewhere between 80-100?? Also, how do I attach the mono to the Jerry brown and is there anything special to know about spooling it? Also, do you carry Hi-seas red devil mono? I saw you listed as a retailer on their website. 80 or 100lb momoi Diamond would be a perfect topshot. I can send you some splicing needles with alittle booklet from Jerry Brown with your line. We do not stock hiseas red devil but I guess we could get it possibly...
