I havent tried the Gorillas but just bought a few Alutecnos 30w 2s from tackle Direct and these are super nice reels. Thanks John for the great sevice!!!.............Mark
John Have you had and feedback on the Gorilla reels? how would you compare them to a Penn Torque say 300? obviuosly a price difference but I am curious about your thoughts. thanks
We have sold a few of the Gorillas so far, havent heard any fishing feedback from them except from the customers stating they liked the look of it. I have heard people who have fished the TRQ300 and they all seem to like it. The TRQ300 is a star drag and the Gorilla is a lever drag...both strong in their own right. Both have similar line capacity. It is really youre preference...If you prefer jigging with a star drag I would go with the TRQ300 or if you prefer lever drag and dont want to go the whole way and spend 700$ for a Torsa...you will get alot of quality and performance out of the Gorilla at 549$.
Mason from Alutecnos tells me that they are in the process of changing handles on all reels...Ill keep you posted.
Im interested to see what kind of handle they go with. The ones on our 30/50's are nice, and I liked the one on the Gorilla as well. Any ideas on what they are switching to?
I read that same review...alutecnos highly disputes that...also there will be no wooden handles...alutecnos is going towards a more ergonomic power handle in the future.
