Default Trim tab speed

I installed the M-120 tabs on my 22 Pro-line Sport. The tabs retract quickly but extend very slow. It takes a full 2 minutes to extend clear out and about 10 seconds to fully retract. Do you have any ideas on what would cause this problem? I bought these last year. Thanks for any help.

Hi Andy,

As long as we are sure that the pump is getting good power, i.e. good hot lead and ground, it sounds like the pump has a fault and is not developing enough PSI.

It is very simple to change the pump out, so as long as you are sure that the power lead and ground are good, send your name, address and phone number to me at Tmcgow@bennetttrimtabs.com and I will send you a replacement pump. Then after you make the swap simply send back the original pump along with the packing list we send with the replacement.

Default Trim tab speed

Hi Tom,

Thanks for getting back with me so fast. I had the pump unit replaced about 6 months ago. It seemed like it was a little quicker for a little while but it quickly changed back to being slow when extending the cylinders. I guess it could be another bad pump. Does it take a lot more pressure to extend the cylinders than to retract them? Any tests I can do before sending them back?

Andy,

Yes it takes much more pressue to extend the Tabs since we are compressing big springs inside the actuators (rams). Those springs force the Tabs up when retacted, thus the faster movement.

I would clean all the electrical connections in the system 1st, then, if no better let me swap the unit out. It is possible that the original problems were also bad contacts, and the new pump with its new connection points cured it for a while, but they are a bit corroded again.

Thanks Tom,

I will clean the connectors this weekend and let you know how it works then. By the way, I have this mounted on the transom of my Pro-line 22 Sport. Since the transom is on an angle the HPU is too. But, I wouldn't think that would matter as long as it has plenty of fluid.

Thanks again
Andy

Thanks Tom,
The new HPU works great! The tabs fly up and down. I will ship the HPU back to you on Monday.

Thanks again for the great support.
