Default 26 regulator classic

I think the tabs on my regulator are a bit small it just seems to take a lot of tab to get a good response when loaded. The boat is a 2005 26 classic with 2-F225's I believe the tabs are about 9" or 12" wide by 14" long. I know this boat is already stern heavy with the 4s but wanted to know what you would consider the optimal blade size for this boat.
Thanks,
Maclin

Maclin,

Thank you for contacting us with your situation.

No doubt the engines are quite heavy on your vessel, which could have moved the CG of the vessel a bit further to the stern than was expected. This would make trimming the vessel a bit harder, so we need you to verify the size of the tabs and to get back to us with some photos/drawings (w/measurements) of your transom. This will provide us with a better idea of any mounting limitations you are working against, since a wider Span (side-to-side) tab might be a good idea for your situation. Can you provide this information to us? If so, please do so as soon as possible so we can get started!

We look forward to your findings.

Maclin,

Please verify the sizing of the tabs for us and also tell us if the 16" measurement is the Span (side-to-side) or Chord (fore-to-aft) too, so we will all be on the same page. You should also verify the actuators are stroking 2-1/2" too, which if they are not then you are not getting as much deflection as is possible from the actuators and that would reduce the effectiveness of the trim tab system.

We look forward to your findings.

Maclin,

Thank you for the trim tab information.

It looks like you have a set of our ST16 Sport Tabs installed on your vessel, which would be a pretty good choice for a 26' Regulator but looks like you need a bit more trim tab for your specific needs. Please take one more look at your transon and let us know if you have about 1.5" of more space inboard & outboard (total of 3") from your currently installed tabs or not. If so, we might be able to help you out!

We look forward to your reply.
